et in virtúte tua júdica me.
1. Save me, O God, by thy name, * and judge me in thy strength.
53:2. Deus, exáudi oratiónem meam : *
áuribus pércipe verba oris mei.
2. O God, hear my prayer: * give ear to the words of my mouth.
53:3. Quóniam aliéni insurrexérunt advérsum me,
et fortes quæsiérunt ánimam meam : *
et non proposuérunt Deum ante conspéctum suum.
3. For strangers have risen up against me; and the mighty have sought after my soul: * and they have not set God before their eyes.
53:4. Ecce enim, Deus ádjuvat me : *
et Dóminus suscéptor est ánimæ meæ.
4. For behold God is my helper: * and the Lord is the protector of my soul.
53:5. Avérte mala inimícis meis : *
et in veritáte tua dispérde illos.
5. Turn back the evils upon my enemies; * and cut them off in thy truth.
53:6. Voluntárie sacrificábo tibi, *
et confitébor nómini tuo, Dómine : quóniam bonum est :
6. I will freely sacrifice to thee, * and will give praise, O God, to thy name: because it is good:
53:7. Quóniam ex omni tribulatióne eripuísti me : *
et super inimícos meos despéxit óculus meus.
7. For thou hast delivered me out of all trouble: * and my eye hath looked down upon my enemies.
V. Glória Patri, et lio, *
et Spirítui Sancto.
V. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost.
R. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper, *
et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
R. As it was in the beginning, is now, * and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Psalmus 54.  I.
(8G)
Psalm 54.
54:1. Exáudi, Deus, oratiónem meam,
et ne despéxeris deprecatiónem meam : *
inténde mihi, et exáudi me.
1. Hear, O God, my prayer, and despise not my supplication: * be attentive to me and hear me.
54:2. Contristátus sum in exercitatióne mea : *
et conturbátus sum a voce inimíci, et a tribulatióne peccaris.
2. I am grieved in my exercise; * and am troubled, at the voice of the enemy, and at the tribulation of the sinner.
54:3. Quóniam declinavérunt in me iniquites : *
et in ira molésti erant mihi.
3. For they have cast iniquities upon me; * and in wrath they were troublesome to me.
54:4. Cor meum conturbátum est in me : *
et formído mortis cécidit super me.
4. My heart is troubled within me: * and the fear of death is fallen upon me.
54:5. Timor et tremor venérunt super me : *
et contexérunt me nebræ.
5. Fear and trembling are come upon me: * and darkness hath covered me.
54:6. Et dixi : Quis dabit mihi pennas sicut colúmbæ, *
et volábo, et requiéscam?
6. And I said: Who will give me wings like a dove, * and I will fly and be at rest?
54:7. Ecce, elongávi giens : *
et mansi in solidine.
7. Lo, I have gone far off flying away; * and I abode in the wilderness.
54:8. Exspectábam eum, qui salvum me fecit *
a pusillanimitáte spíritus et tempestáte.
8. I waited for him that hath saved me * from pusillanimity of spirit, and a storm.
54:9. Præcípita, Dómine, dívide linguas eórum : *
quóniam vidi iniquitátem, et contradictiónem in civite.
9. Cast down, O Lord, and divide their tongues; * for I have seen iniquity and contradiction in the city.
54:10. Die ac nocte circúmdabit eam super muros ejus iníquitas : *
et labor in médio ejus, et injustítia.
10. Day and night shall iniquity surround it upon its walls: * and in the midst thereof are labour, and injustice.
54:11. Et non defécit de platéis ejus *
usúra, et dolus.
11. And usury and deceit * have not departed from its streets.
54:12. Quóniam si inimícus meus maledixísset mihi, *
sustinuíssem útique.
12. For if my enemy had reviled me, * I would verily have borne with it.
54:13. Et si is, qui óderat me, super me magna locútus fuísset, *
abscondíssem me fórsitan ab eo.
13. And if he that hated me had spoken great things against me, * I would perhaps have hidden myself from him.
54:14. Tu vero, homo unánimis : *
dux meus, et notus meus :
14. But thou a man of one mind, * my guide, and my familiar.
54:15. Qui simul mecum dulces capiébas cibos : *
in domo Dei ambulávimus cum consénsu.
15. Who didst take sweetmeats together with me: * in the house of God we walked with consent.
54:16. Véniat mors super illos : *
et descéndant in inférnum vivéntes :
16. Let death come upon them, * and let them go down alive into hell.
54:16. Quóniam nequítiæ in habitáculis eórum : *
in médio eórum.
16. For there is wickedness in their dwellings: * in the midst of them.
Amen.

Psalmus 54.  II.
(8G)
Psalm 54.
54:17. Ego autem ad Deum clavi : *
et Dóminus salbit me.
17. But I have cried to God: * and the Lord will save me.
54:18. Véspere, et mane, et merídie narrábo et annuntiábo : *
et exáudiet vocem meam.
18. Evening and morning, and at noon I will speak and declare: * and he shall hear my voice.
54:19. Rédimet in pace ánimam meam ab his, qui appropínquant mihi : *
quóniam inter multos erant mecum.
19. He shall redeem my soul in peace from them that draw near to me: * for among many they were with me.
54:20. Exáudiet Deus, et humiliábit illos, *
qui est ante cula.
20. God shall hear, * and the Eternal shall humble them.
54:21. Non enim est illis commutátio, et non timuérunt Deum : *
exténdit manum suam in retribuéndo.
21. For there is no change with them, and they have not feared God: * he hath stretched forth his hand to repay.
54:22. Contaminavérunt testaméntum ejus,
divísi sunt ab ira vultus ejus : *
et appropinquávit cor ilus.
22. They have defiled his covenant, they are divided by the wrath of his countenance, * and his heart hath drawn near.
54:23. Mollíti sunt sermónes ejus super óleum : *
et ipsi sunt cula.
23. His words are smoother than oil, * and the same are darts.
54:24. Jacta super Dóminum curam tuam, et ipse te etriet : *
non dabit in ætérnum fluctuatiónem justo.
24. Cast thy care upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: * he shall not suffer the just to waver for ever.
54:24. Tu vero, Deus, dedúces eos, *
in púteum inritus.
24. But thou, O God, shalt bring them down * into the pit of destruction.
54:24. Viri sánguinum, et dolósi non dimidiábunt dies suos : *
ego autem sperábo in te, mine.
